Tonda di Giffoni is a highly recognized Italian hazelnut variety (IGP), famous for its high yielding capacity and exceptional flavor quality. It is a key raw material for the premium confectionery industry and gourmet gastronomy. It has moderate growth, starts bearing fruit early, and yields regularly and abundantly, making it ideal for home gardens and commercial plantings. It is classified as a medium-late variety and flowers early. The proximity of a suitable pollinator is recommended for a higher/more abundant and secure yield. The fruit is large, spherical, dark brown, with a thin shell that the kernel almost completely fills. The variety is versatile: suitable for fresh consumption, drying, roasting, confectionery use, and making first-class chocolates and hazelnut creams alike.
