Makako is a protected, Spanish-bred almond variety. It is extremely late-flowering. It does not require a pollinator, it is self-fertile. It is specifically high-yielding, which is also due to its self-fertility. It generally avoids spring frosts well. Its tree has strong growth, is hardy, and its fruit does not drop. Its excellent quality fruit is elongated, has a hard shell, the kernel weight is approximately 1.2 g on average, and the kernel ratio is 30–35%. Its taste is sweet, flavorful, with a high sugar and fat content. It is excellent for confectionery use and for making nut milk.
